Hayward Sand Filters
The availability of newer filtering mechanisms on the market today, has made it much easier to construct a home swimming pool. Swimming pool owners do not have to heavily invest in costly filters that are primarily designed for commercial pools.
Currently, anybody with a reasonable budget can invest in an above-ground filter that will last for five to seven years.
One such filter is the Hayward sand filter. Hayward filters are well known for their durability and the quality of their filter media. Sand filters from the Hayward Pro series are designed such that all incoming water is evenly distributed throughout the filter media or sand bed; which provides the most efficient water filtration possible.
A sand filter’s diffusing mechanism is crucial because if the mechanism is poorly designed, you will have a sub-standard swimming pool water. Having a good diffusing mechanism also means that your above ground sand filter is always working at full capacity every single day. Your investment in the sand filter will be worthwhile only if the filter is properly affixed to a circulating mechanism that is connected to your swimming pool.
Contrary to the older pool filters, Hayward sand filters are constructed from extremely durable thermoplastic to ensure that no rust will develop in the filter body, regardless of how long you have the filter connected to your pool. Older filters made of metal are eventually worn down by mineralization and excessive water exposure. The Hayward sand filter can’t rust because it’s not even made of metal, but from material that is far more durable than metal and will always be free of any rusting.
Among the best assets of Hayward models from the Pro series is their flange clamp assembly. You can actually rotate the input valve if you have to, which really makes everything that much easier when you are installing the sand filter by yourself.
These sand filters have also been designed with seamless internal plumbing that makes the water to flow more efficiently. The large internal pipes help to ensure that all of the water being pumped into the filtration unit is cleaned and pumped out in record time.
When you are backwashing the sand filtration unit, there is also a sight glass that you can observe in order to see and confirm if the process has been completed. When the backwashing process is done, simply turn the Vari-Flo valve to switch the filtration unit back into filtering mode.
The seven-way Vari-Flo valve gives you full control over everything that is taking place inside the filtering unit; thereby avoiding any guesswork or rushing to check the user manual. Winterizing is also simplified, because the Hayward sand filter is also pre-installed with a relatively large drain.
Each Hayward sand filter enables you to filter water, and to re-circulate it if needed. You can also rinse the filter sand after backwashing and you can backwash it whenever necessary. There is a waste feature which will allow you to drain the collected impurities from your swimming pool’s filter. The overall construction of this filter also allows you to save money by filtering the largest volume of water in the shortest period of time possible.
